One summer day in 1957, we headed to the courthouse for a marriage license. My husband-to-be, Steve, asked the clerk for a fishing license.

1957年的夏天，我们去法院办理结婚证。我的未婚夫史蒂夫，问起柜员钓鱼许可证的事情。

She advised him a fishing license cost $1.50 and a marriage license cost $2.50. With some thought and a smile, he chose the marriage license, and so our life together, later filled with two children, began.

女柜员告诉他，一张钓鱼许可证花费1.5美金，一张结婚证花费2.5美金。他想了一会儿笑着说，他选择结婚证。之后我们便一起生活，后来还添了两个孩子。

Whenever we had a disagreement, I would remind my husband that he could have saved money had he chosen a fishing license, and it would have expired in a year. The extra dollar cost him 53 years of wedded bliss.

每当我们意见不合的时候，我都会提醒说，他本来可以省点钱选择一张一年期的钓鱼许可证，当时他多花的钱却让他享受了长达53年的美妙婚姻生活。
